First of all, I would like to say that this is nothing mysterious. I am trying to fix an 89 that has been dropped about 7 times over 2 years of rough use and has finally died. The system restore (change batteries while holding (-) and ) works, and I get my apps desktop until I let go of the two keys, at which point it dies and will not take input of any kind. If I redo the system restore, it will work (apparently, although I can't actually do anything with it) until I release the keys, and then it crashes. I expect this just means I'm toast, but it feels so close to working that I was hoping that someone here knew what to do.
