hey folks...i just bought a TI-89...and pretty stupid with it...and i know there are more than one way to skin a cat...so...help me if u could...

i need a short and easy way of converting dBm and dBW to absolute power...

i know that the formula is Power in milliwatts = 10^(xdBm/10)

i.e. 30dBm = 1000mW

conversly.... Power in Watts = 10^(xdBW/10)

i.e. 12dBW = 15.85 Watts

so how do i program this into the TI-89 for quick answers without typing a lot of keys and stuff...

i know that this is a simple thing to do but that is besides the point. i want to program the damn thing in and just type x=12 and get 15.85 Watts.

your expertise would greatly be appreciated...

Hi freemusic,

Welcome to TI-89.org forums!

You can define functions like this:

Code:

Define dbmToPow(xdBm)=10^(xdBm/10)
Define powWatts(xdBw)=10^(xdBw/10)

More about functions:

Or define your own units:

Hope this helps!
