Hey there. This may seem stupid to ask but I have a syntax problem when i enter things like 10^-1 and i have to write it down as 10^(0-1). How can i avoid this?

Hi gtz,

Welcome to TI-89.org forums!

I don't have a problem with 10^-1 on my TI-89 calculator. It spits out 1/10 like it's supposed to. Can you supply some more information? What AMS / OS version are you using?

The only thing I can think of is that you are using a TI-83, and have typed [1]+[0]+[^]+[X^-1], which is indeed a syntax error. When you are using the [x^-1] or [x^2] keys on the TI-83, you don't need the caret ("^").

Hope this helps!
