I once had it on permanently to always have decimals showing. Now I get fractions. How do I go back to its original setting?

Welcome to TI-89.org forums!

If you press the [MODE] key on your calculator, you will find an option on the second page (press [F2]) that says "Exact/Approx". Choose "Approximate" from the list to always get decimal values. Choose "Auto" from the list to get exact values when working with exact expressions, and approximate values when working with approximate expressions, i.e., expressions with decimals.
