Can the Ti-89 accept a trig identity squared? For example I am trying to enter:
Sin^2(θ)-2sin(θ)+3=0
or
4cos^2(x)-1=0
It keeps telling me Im missing a ( but I cant fin out where.
I am trying to solve problems where identities are squared.
Thanks

Hi shearer216,
Welcome to TI-89 Forums!
To use squared trig functions, simply enter them in this form:
Although this isn't the accepted mathematical way to portray higher power trig functions, it means the same thing and is interpreted correctly on the TI-89 calculator.
Hope this helps!
