Hi,
I'm using matrices in a Elementary Linear Algebra class and I get into the matrix editor and I've used a lot of the variable names in previous matrices! What I mean is that I don't know how to clear all the previous matrix variable names that are stored in there.
For example, I have a matrix called zz. How do I delete it when I'm done with zz?
Let me know if this does not make sense. And if it does, please help!!! Thank you so much, your help is appreciated!! |

You can delete variables from the home screen using the DelVar command:
DelVar zz, bb, hi
This command will remove the variables 'zz', 'bb', and 'hi' from your calculator. You can also delete variables from the Var-Link menu (2nd + MINUS). Highlight the variable, press F1 and select the DELETE command (1). Or use F4 to select multiple variables and then delete them all at once.
If you have a lot of single-letter variables that you need to clean up at once, there is a command found in the F6 menu that does just that. Press 2nd + F1 to select the F6 menu and use the appropriate command (I don't have my calculator on me so I can't say for sure, but I think it's the first command).
Another option: if you don't want to lose a matrix but it's saved under 'm' or something highly-used like that, you can rename it using the Rename command on the homescreen or rename it from the Var-Link menu (2nd + MINUS).
Rename m, mat1_4
This command will rename the variable 'm' to 'mat1_4', freeing up 'm' for other uses.
