I've just got the ti-89 and it seems to automatically simplify most other things but when I try to get (xy)/(xz) to simplify to y/z it doesn't do it

Where am I going wrong guys?

thats quite easy, as you are entering xy and xz, which your calculator recognizes as one variable, not multiplication
beware of juxtapositions, they can lead to wrong results

type (x*y)/(x*z) and the calculator shows correct result
