All downloads from PC to TI-89 become EXPR

I can easily transfer screen shots and programs from my calculator to my PC, but going the other way around doesn't work as well.

Let's say I have a program called, "beams" and I send it to the computer. Then I want to modify it, and then send it back to the calculator as a program. But, what happens, is that when I access the newly modified program on the calculator, it has been converted to an EXPR (Expression) so that now it's no longer considered a program by the calculator, but an expression.

How do I either convert an EXPR data type on the calculator to a PRGM, or, better yet, how do I configure the file on my PC so that the TI-89 already recognizes the download as a PRGM?

I can't even look at the expression as text. If I were able to do that, I could copy/paste it into a PRGM file.
