I just got my TI-89 Titanium. I want to eventually use it to help me practice the algebra that I have forgotten (I know, you don't really, really need a TI-89 for that, but I wanted a new toy). I thought I would learn my way around the calculator by starting with doing simple math. My problem is this:

1. I want to enter a simple problem like -8+9= but when I enter the negative sign as the first thing, I get ans(1)- and if I type 8+9 ENTER I get an "Invalid ans()" error message. I see some documents where there is supposedly a (-) key, but I can't find it. So how do I plug in -8+9= so the calculator knows I am starting with a negative 8. Rolling Eyes

Please humor me on this dumb question, thanks.
