The two equations are

xy=40
x^2+y^2 =100

I tried solve() and csolve(), the solution contains a symbol that looks like an e. One right answer should be x=2*5^.5 and y=4*5^.5.

What is that symbol and how can I get the solution?

I believe you should use x*y not xy
