I have a TI-89 Titanium and am having a severe problem trying to download applications to it.
I get the "Incompatible Device" error when trying to use Ti-Connect, even though the OS is up-to-date and also the TI-Connect is the latest version. Is there anything else I can try with TI-Connect?
Also, I've tried TiLP2, and managed to get it to connect using my Silver cable. Unfortunately, I can move things from the calculator to the computer, but still cannot download applications to the calculator. I get message timeouts, things like that.
I set TiLP2 to for the BlackCable option in the options file, but no connection is even established between the computer(Windows XP, SP2) and the calculator.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions about this?
Thanks,

Hi anonymouscoward,
I have a TI-89 Titanium with the newest AMS and use the newest version of TI-Connect software. My computer is Windows XP, SP2 and I use the silver USB cable (made initially for the TI-83) for connecting my calculator. I have never had a problem transferring files to and from my calculator with this setup.
Do you have the newest AMS on your calculator? Also, the TI-89 Titanium has two connection ports. Try cords for both ports and see if you can get either one to work (USB cord comes with the calculator I believe; I got the other connector type at Wal-Mart for about $15).
And if you haven't restarted the computer in awhile, there's a slim chance that might improve things.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
Thanks for replying. I have all new software on my ti-89t but I don't know what AMS stands for. Is it the operating system or something else?

Hi anonymouscoward,
Sorry about that--yes, I meant the OS version. AMS stands for Advanced Mathematics Software, which is the algebraic computation system used by the TI-89.
Calculators also have a hardware version that can't be updated. You can find both the OS and the hardware versions using [F1]+[A] (About). My OS is 3.10, which I believe is the most recent version, and my hardware version is 3.00. I believe the newest hardware version is 4.00, which comes with newer TI-89 Titanium calculators.
I did some Googling on your problem and found this:
http://www.unitedti.org/lofiversion/index.php/t5314.html
"You'll need to get TiLP II, the standard TiLP doesn't support the direct USB cables."
"I was having the same problem with both my TI-84+, and TI-89 Titanium. I uninstalled TI Connect, downloaded the latest version from the TI Website, and then reinstalled it, restarted my computer, and it seemed to fix it."
Try these two ideas and see if they help. If nothing else, try a different cable or install TI-Connect fresh on a different computer.
